CPT Requirements
Key Information
Day-1 CPT Eligibility
National Louis University offers Day-1 CPT for both Transfer F1 and Initial F1 students. NLU supports students who need to apply for a Change of Status and will provide the necessary assistance.
Registration Requirement for CPT
In order to apply CPT, students are required to take 1 internship course every semester.
Duration and Renewal of CPT Approval
Each CPT approval is valid for up to one year, and it can be seamlessly renewed when it expires. If a student changes their job position or employer, they need to inform the school and apply for a new CPT approval.
GPA Requirement for CPT
During the CPT internship, students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0; otherwise, it may affect the renewal of future CPT approvals and graduation.
Responsibilities and Consequences
Failure to meet attendance requirements for on-site classes, incomplete assignments, or engaging in academic dishonesty may result in the revocation of CPT privileges, and serious offenses could lead to expulsion.

- Master’s degree in business or in a business-related discipline.
- A grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0).
- English proficiency
- TOEFL: A minimum score of 80 for the Internet-based test (iBT) or a minimum of 550 total for the TOEFL paper test (PBT). TOEFL scores are only valid for two years.
- IELTS: 6.5, with no individual band below a 6.0. IELTS scores are only valid for two years.
- PTE: A minimum score of 54. PTE scores are valid for two years.
- Duolingo: A minimum score of 105. DET scores are valid for two years.

- Bank Statement showing a minimum balance of $32,000 USD(MSBDA & MSOL) or $24,000 USD(DBA) in financial support. Alternate documents include loans or sponsor bank statements with a signed/dated sponsorship letter. Additional amounts will need to be shown for dependents (spouse $5,000; child $3000).

- For the Florida campus, full payment is required before the start of each semester.
